About The Whisky Shop

The Whisky Shop was founded in 1992 when we opened our first shop in Edinburgh’s Waverley Mall. Thirty years on, The Whisky Shop is the largest specialist retailer of whisky in the UK with 21 shops across the UK, a boutique in Paris and an active online shop.

At The Whisky Shop, we offer customers a unique shopping experience where they can browse (and in some cases sample) a range of over 400 different whiskies, including many independent bottlings, releases exclusive to The Whisky Shop, single cask expressions, a wide range of international whisky, great gift items and allocations of the rarest and most desirable limited releases.

Our mantra is ‘unlocking the mystery of whisky since 1992’.  By that we aim to un-complicate the apparently complicated, speak plain language and deliver excellent service to our customers. From single malts and blends, to grain and world whiskies, our staff are here to help you find the right whisky for you.

Our official magazine, Whiskeria, in which we feature new and existing whiskies and provide comment and guidance to readers and prospective purchasers, is one of the leading publications in its field with a readership in excess of 120,000. Feature items have encompassed fields as varied as music, sport, art, literature and cuisine, with cover stars including the likes of Sir Peter Blake, David Beckham, Ian Rankin, Doddie Weir, David Gyasi, Shauna Macdonald, Grant Hutchison, Edith Bowman, Nick Nairn, JJ Chalmers and Eunice Olumide, to name but a few.

With its origins in The Glenkeir Club established in 2006, our customer club has grown from a handful of members to today’s incarnation as The W Club, with thousands of members across the country and more abroad. Members of The W Club receive a range of benefits including discounts in store and online, exclusive whisky tastings, a free subscription to Whiskeria, special members-only whiskies, priority notice on rare and limited releases, and much more.
